| The Very 1st Family Day |

At first I thought, wow a long-weekend in February...brilliant! Who doesn't need an extra day off, right? Then as the day got closer I realized that Family Day shouldn't just be a day off...you know, where you paint the living room or go shopping. It should be a day where you plan something special with those you consider your family. Go for a walk, watch a movie, have a nice dinner, it doesn't matter as long as you are with your family.
We spend a lot of time working. Life get's busy and we often take for granted the people closest to us. So, Family Day should be a day to hang out, coast, chill with those that you love and enjoy just being together. Life flies by, kids grow up...and as my birth certificate shows, we get old :)
My son made me something for Father's Day at daycare this year that I keep here in my office. These old eyes well up every time I read it...but I do use it as a guide to slow down from time to time and just enjoy my son and my family. After all...this is all a big waste of time of it weren't for those closest to our hearts. |
