With out diminishing the love I have for our business here at DANIMA, for all of us, work is merely a means to an ends. A way to pay the bills and hopefully do some of the things you always wanted to do with the money you make. Like go to Fenway Park or Texas Stadium with your son (not naming names)...or creating other memories like..uh, I don't know..maybe take your 3 year old with you to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Getting up everyday and working your butt off sometimes pays off. Last night, it did for me. As corny as this is going to sound, and as odd as it will sound for anyone who doesn't get the connection between me and music (particularly Springsteen), last night I got to do something I only dreampt about...I took my son to see The Boss! That's right, a 3 year old a concert. I took a lot of flack for that...but when I saw the excitement in his eyes as the band walked on stage. As he danced and sang for 2 1/2 hours...it made the past 10 years of 60 to 80 hour weeks seem worth while. $385 for 3 tickets, $27 for 2 drafts, $20 for parking and $20 for a program...the smile on his face was, you got it, priceless.
I didn't need an alarm clock to get up today. I couldn't wait to come to work today. I couldn't wait to start working toward that next big memory...that next unforgettable moment!
As Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band left the stage, my son started to whimper saying "Daddy, I want to see more Bruce". Well, Pookster...Dad's back behind the computer workin' away so we can see a few more of those shows and create some more of those memories "further down up the road".
Enjoy your day folks...I know I will! |
