Hold on...this is a long one!
As we count down the final hours of 2004 we look back on all that happened in the world, in our lives and in our business. For DANIMA 2004 was both successful and eventful.
Back in January DANIMA partnered up with QS2 Promotions to form Idease Group: Marketing & Promotions. Later in January, DANIMA had finalized their agreement with the Business Education Council of Niagara to take over the marketing and development of ChooseNiagara.com
In February DANIMA provided the Business Education Council of Niagara with the multi-media for their Annual Partners Breakfast. As well, renovations were completed and DANIMA moved into the QS2 building in Niagara Falls on Morrison Street. DANIMA & IdeaseGroup participated in the Small Business Club trade show late in February with succesful results.
In March DANIMA began re-structuring the Choose Niagara site to create a fee-for-service directory. 2 of our programmers helped create an E-commerce system with new administration options for clients. Also in March, Idease Group hired Office Manager, Linda Burlock.
The spring was busy with various web projects on the go including the completion of web sites for The House of Comedy, Cape Innovations and Rustic and Refined and the continuous work on the print and web materials for the Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Oh yeah, and I became the President of Small Business Club Niagara after being Vice-President for 2 years. And in May our web site - BruceSpringsteen.ca - won an E-Niagara award. That's back-to-back awards for DANIMA!
The summer of 2004 was most memorable for me. DANIMA was very busy, but not too busy that I couldn't start building a web site for my son-to-be (EvanRotella.com) who was born at 8.29 pm on June 27th. A blessing, indeed! But it was business as usual at DANIMA as we completed web sites for the Niagara Training and Adjustment Board, Giga Sports and Adventures In Music. We also gave web-lifts to the BitNet Niagara web site, Kandu Pools, and UltimateCaddy.com.
Fall came quickly and various projects that started in the summer such as Ken Crossman Dental's new web site and Adventure Mats web site were completed. With the success of Choose Niagara DANIMA welcomed Joanne Lester to the team to assist in populating the Choose Niagara business directory. In addition to all of this work, the short-lived Idease Group partnership dissolved as both businesses were heading in different directions and needed room to grow their individual businesses.
The end of October added an exclamation mark to 2004 for me. Not only did I become a Daddy in 2004 but my prediction that the birth of my bambino would break the curse of the bambino came true. After 86 long, gruelling, painful years, the Boston Red Sox won the World Series!! What a relief.
With a new focus on our business and no distractions, November marked the official re-birth of DANIMA. DANIMA hired Terry Kadwell to do sales for Choose Niagara and DANIMA in early December with great hopes for 2005! Both November and December were busy with web projects (Ultimate Women's Fitness, Beyond Boardom, Transportation Safety's new look, Career Planning Service and Techmate Systems) and multi-media projects for the Business Education Council and the Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. All of which I am currently working on here on New Year's Eve! No rest of the crazy entrepreneur. |

So, it seems the business had significant changes in 2004 going from a home office to co-locating to our own office. So did my personal life, with the birth of my son, Evan James Rotella, and the Red Sox' comeback against the Yankess and the long-awaited World Series victory. And the world itself has changed quite a bit over this past year. This past week far too many lives were lost in a tragic disaster, the War on terror continues as more and more soldiers lose their lives for what? And, saddly, tonight Mr. Dick Clark will not be the host of Dick Clark's Rockin' New year's Eve (get well soon Mr. Clark).
That's it. I told you it was going to be long. If you are still reading we want to wish all of you a healthy and prosperous New Year in both your business lives and your personal lives.
